Atmiya Sambandh Utsav - 2016 (Samuh Lagnotsav)

On Date: 29 March 2016

On Tuesday, the 29th March 2016, Yogi Divine Society, Haridham, Sokhada, Vadodara had organized a festival of Atmiya Relations (Celebration of Group Marriages) at Kadidoli in Krishnaji Pradesh wherein, the marriages of 11 daughters of very poor and backward families of remote area of adivasi population were arranged and accomplished and they all were sent to the families of their father in laws with their smiling faces by donating/gifting them all/most of their household requirements/necessities in dowry.

When the poor people are finding it extremely difficult/unmanageable even to arrange for their food for 2 times a day due to presently prevailing out of control dearness in the society, they find it even harder if they have to meet the expenses of an additional incident/ceremony in the family and that too, when there is a marriageable daughter in the family and she is to be married. Her parents are totally surrounded by all sorts of worries. Many a times, the fathers are borrowing beyond their reach to repay for meeting this responsibility and then, they have to pass through even harder days and face many difficulties. Considering this odd situation of the society, to be helpful to these poor families, Yogi Divine Society had arranged this group marriage in Shri Aksharpurushottam Swaminarayan Farm at Kadidoli where nearly 6000 families from both the sides, the boys side and the girls side, as well as the volunteers of Yogi Divine Society were present. The saint leaders like P. Kothariswami, P. Shrijicharanswami, P. Sadhusaurabhswami and other saints from holy place Haridham, Sokhada as well as P. Sthitpragnaben, P. Smitben, P. Sahayogben, P. Satyaprakashben and P. Sushantben from Bhakti Ashram had also remained present on this occasion on girls’ side.

Since 11.00 am in the morning only, the marrying boys and girls with their families had started arriving on Swaminarayan Farm. The best facility for lodging for these 22 families as well as of vast arbours for their guests was adequately made. The God Ganesh was sited at 12:00 noon and the process of Grihshanti was fixed at 2:00 pm and, at 5:00 pm, the procession of 11 bridegrooms was taken out with bands in which, all danced to their fullest satisfaction.

After the procession, all the guests of both sides had collected in the form of a meeting where, P. Kothariswami, who had specially come from Haridham on this occasion said, while explaining the value and importance of marriage that, it is a process of advancing the married life whereby, a boy and a girl officially join each other. It is their prime/sacred duty and responsibility that, they both carry on their chariot of life jointly with full understanding, mutual love, spirit of sacrifice for each-other and with real atmiyata in the family and for this, there has got to be the equal balance/coordination between both the wheels. These families are really extremely lucky that, their marriages are performed in this temple and that too, in the presence of all these holy saints. On this occasion, P. Kothariswami put up a prayer at the lotus feet of Shri Thakorji and Guruhari P.P. Swamiji to give them all the happy and safe/protected life.

This was followed by a lunch break after which, all the 11 bridegrooms were sited on the marriage stage decorated with flowers and the process of their marriage was completed by the Brahmins chanting the religious mantras/slokas. After the process of marriage ceremony and taking the rounds all, the newly married couples took oath in the presence of holy fire to cooperate with each-other as per the commands/statements/promises of Saptapadi.

On this occasion, Yogi Divine Society had gifted to all the newly married brides the Mangalsutra – clothes and the household items like steel sofa sets, safe, coach with beds, blankets, pillows, bed sheet covers and shawls to complete the process of farewell to brides.

Thus, by arranging this group marriage, Yogi Divine Society had helped 11 girls in establishing their own families. Not only the parents of these girls but, also all the guests and relatives from the bridegroom side along with those of girls side also wholeheartedly thanked and appreciated this kind of unique social service by the institution, its saints and the volunteers and admitted that even if they themselves had decided to arrange this work of their own, they couldn’t have probably done it so nicely. The fathers of all the girls, with their crying hearts admitted that, just because of this timely, valuable and rare help from Yogi Divine Society and its volunteers and the warmth from these saints, they had been able to give this farewell to their daughters for which, they had absolutely no proper and adequate word to thank.
