On “International Yoga Day” Tuesday, the 21st June 2016, Yogi Divine Society, Haridham, Sokhada and Jay Charities, Mumbai had jointly organized a yoga shibir in Atmiya Welfare and Cultural Center, Kandivali (East), Mumbai in which, around 50 gents and ladies had remained present and received the primary/basic information about yogasans and pranayamas from the yoga teacher Sri Jitubhai Katkoriya.

As a result of successful efforts by India’s P.M. Sri Narendrabhai Modi, United Nations Organization (UNO) has declared 21st June as “International Yoga Day” since the last year. To celebrate this occasion, Yogi Divine Society had organized this shibir.

The renowned yogacharya of Mumbai Sri Jitubhai Katkoriya had started the shibir with the sound of Pranav (Om) and explaining about the positive effects of it he had given information about pranayama. He said, because the life span of every living body depends upon the number of certain fixed breathings, the process of breathing, as far as possible, should be slow and rhythmic which is achieved through various types of pranayams giving longer life as well as the freshness of mind and body and, while giving such a basic information, he also practically demonstrated certain pranayams like bhramary, kapalbhati, anulom-vilom etc. informing the benefits of them.

Then, informing about one of the processes of yoga, “Bandh” in which, the breath is held up for a longer time inside so that the body can absorb more oxygen, he discussed various types of it.

Then, he practically demonstrated a certain asans and informed as to how they can be used to cure a few diseases.

Sri Jitubhai not only explained all the yogic processes very peacefully in detail but, also insistently advised all the participants to adopt them in their daily life while also taking/reaching/delivering the benefits of this heritage of our rishies right up to the last man of the society.
